Paul, Sarah and I represented our classroom at the West Seattle Sustainability Festival this last Sunday.  It was such a great community event.  We talked to so many concerned people and got some alternative ideas for for our school and class.  We also were able to share our ideas and practices with everyone who came by to visit.

The first speaker of the day was Jim McDermott. It was so great to hear him speak.  Our class sent letters to him earlier this year and he responded in such a personal way. During his speech, he spoke about how democracy is such a slow process because so many voices need to be heard.  This reminded me of what we try to achieve in the classroom and what we continuously need to work toward on a daily basis.

Just say NO to plastic bags – below is one person’s year supply!  But of course you all take your cloth bags!
