In September Charlie and his mom brought in a cocoon that they thought was a Luna Moth. Our moth was suppose to come out in about two weeks.
We waited and waited and waited and then in November we decided to see what was what. We got the moth out and I ever so gently sliced open the outer cocoon shell.
As I opened it up, it gave a little wiggle inside and about had a heart attack. So we put it back in the tank and covered it in moss. Then again in December and in January, we took a peak and each time we got a wiggle. So we just left it alone.
Then on the last day of school before break our moth appeared. It wasn’t the Luna Moth we were expecting but a Polyphemus Moth and a beauty non-the-less.
