Today was our last day before the auction to finish up our cranes so that we can construct them into a mobile via Isabel’s mom, Anne Marie. We used the paper that Clara brought back from her trip to Japan last week – how perfect. Today, instead of working in small groups during open classroom, during math, we all worked on the cranes together, at the same time, with the goal of buying our school in our hearts. We counted, worked, counted, folded, counted, bent, counted, sweat our behinds off in the heated summer classroom.
We ended up with 63 – that’s pretty good for a class of mostly kindergartners and a very difficult origami project – crane’s are the hardest thing I’ve made so far. We were so proud to hand our bundle off at the end of the day.
Crane’s in flight – here’s to Community School!
