This morning we started talking about how we moved the clocks back an hour.  Jackson looked at me intently and said; “So whatever we’re doing right know is in the past?”  Whew, they keep me on my toes.

I then told them about how Autumn thinks that the moon is following her wherever we go and how it went to the store with us the other night and I asked if that ever happened to them and James excitedly said; “Oh yes and the sun follows me too.”

For math today we got out our unifix cubes, dice and each took three turns rolling the die, and collecting the amount of unifix cubes that we rolled on the dice such as if someone rolled a six then they took six unifix cubes and connected them together.  After three turns, each person counted how many unifix cubes they had and we wrote the numbers on the white board and then tallied the numbers.  It was fun and everyone was excited about their numbers and figuring out different ways of making sure they were getting the right amount of unifix cubes.  Harriette took the dice and rolled and then took unifix cubes and lined them up in singles next to the cube to echo the exact way the dots lay on the die.  Sophia made her tower of cubes in a color pattern.  It was interesting and very telling of each kids learning style.  It was a great way for me to assess their one to one correspondence, their counting ability, and their ability to know the number by seeing all of the dots together or if they had to count them individually and how they come to an answer for themselves.

Sophia cut her finger and got five stitches.  When I changed her bandage, she showed everyone – wow, was everyone shocked; “Her finger is sown up.”

The kids decided that I looked like a lion today and Harriette took a picture of me growling.  Roooooaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr….

Spanish starts in our class on Monday.  It will be every Monday from 2:15 until 3:00.  YEAH!!!

In addition, violin lessons are available on Monday’s from 3:00 until 3:30.  This is separate from class and costs $60 for six half-hour sessions.  You also have to supply your own violin.  There are a few students from Vashon participating.  I have the flyer at school if you are interested.

One more thing – don’t forget we are closed on Wednesday and Thursday for parent/teacher conferences.  See you then!

Oh, and dance class tomorrow – pu at 3:45!
