Thank you for sharing this – I love the way it gives all the children a chance to participate in the whole experience of experimenting, observing, recording. I’m definately going to try this with the kids at preschool.
This is such a simple and great way to let preschoolers carry out this experiment over and over. Just the type of hands-on experience they need! I love it.
Love the giant mass of baking soda. We’ll try it at Seedlings soon!
Lately we do this in the sand on the playground. Dig holes with a friend and run back and forth with the supplies. Cutting the vinegar with water (even half and half) still works well.

We’ve never done the experiment like this before, adding the vinegar a tiny bit at a time. I can’t wait to try it.
