It has taken me a while to write this post.
On Monday night, our guinea pigs had three babies and they were all dead when we came in Tuesday morning. We’ve all been very sad, letting the guinea pigs have some time alone, feeding them lots of yummy veggies and trying to figure out how to help them.

We decided that they need a larger house inside their cage, so we’ve been designing a new house. Everyone has come up with a plan. We are going to look at all of our designs and then come up with one that we will make in the wood shop.

We made a coffin for the babies on Thursday and we are going to bury them this week.

Anya and Isaac’s mom, Susie, cleans the guinea pig cage every week and when she found out what had happened, her and Anya and Isaac’s dad, Ivan cleaned the cage for them. It was so sweet and loving. I loved seeing their entire family, down on their knees helping out our class and our beloved animals. Thanks so much you guys. You’re entire family is such an important part of our classroom community. We love you so.

That’s very sad and I’m sorry for your loss. That’s a pretty hard lesson to teach a class of children. The best thing you can do for the pigs though is separate them for a while. I’m sure it would be best for the female if she didn’t have to cope with another pregnancy right away.
