Welcome back from your trip to New York Isabel – we missed you!!!

Working on our words:

We’ve been working on identifying words, letters, and sounds in our world. We are learning how to hold our pencils so that it makes it easier to write. We’ve also been practicing how we begin our letters, letter spacing and inventive spelling. Practicing writing our names is a daily activity through labeling our work. We’re also just having fun with writing words we love, moving our pens in a fluid motion (no matter what is written) and labeling our pictures with captions. We’ve almost finished our first journals (I’ll be saving all of them until the end of the year to see the progression.)

Don’t forget we are closed Thursday and Friday so that the staff can attend the National Association for the Education of Young Children Conference in Bellevue. Also, parent/teacher conferences for our class are next Wednesday and Thursday. We will be closed those days so that I can prep for the conferences. Don’t forget to sign up – the sign up sheet is next to the daily sign in sheet outside of Mystery Bay.

Thoughts

"In order to move forward, we must say openly to each other the things we hold in our hearts." ~President Barack Obama

What We’re Reading

This year we are traveling on a Roald Dahl adventure. We started with Fantastic Mr Fox, then we read James and the Giant Peach, now we are working on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and next up will be Matilda. We will also be cooking from the Roald Dahl cookbook with Amalie's mom and working on many other projects surrounding this book theme.

What We’re Listening To
