The water crystals we used came from a floral shop and I don't still have the package - sorry. They are non-toxic and were already colored. We still have some and they are still holding water. The idea is that you put your flowers in them and they stay watered and the water is pretty because it is pink and crystal. The kids did touch them but I was there the entire time and everyone in my class is at least five and they don't usually put things in their mouths if I've asked them not to. I have no idea about allergies though. They were fun. They took about four hours and we watched them grow during those four hours and then we played with them and now they are in a clear vase with snake grass. Good Luck!

Hey there...I was just searching for information about Water Crystals...and came upon your blog...I was wondering how your water crystals worked for you, and if you bought them from watercrystals.com? How long did your water crystals hold water? My husband is wondering how safe they are? It looks as though it was okay for the kids to put their hands in them. Do you think that anyone would be allergic to them? Did you guys color them or were they colored already? Thanks for your help...My e-mail address is tymbertykes@gmail.com ~Brook
